What Is A Christian? |
A Christian Is One Who Does The Following Things:
1. Someone that has been born again-
John 3:3: Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be
born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Verse 4: Nicodemus said unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the
second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
Verse 5: Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the
Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
2. Member of the body:
1 Cor 12:12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one
body, being many, are one body; so also is Christ.
Verse 13: For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles,
whether we be slaves or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
Verse 14: For the body is not one member, but many.
3. Living by a new standard:
Heb 4:15: For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our
infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
4. Citizen in the kingdom:
Col 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the
inheritance of the saints in light
Verse:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the
kingdom of his dear Son.
Verse:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
5. A branch in Christ:
John 15:1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman
Verse 2: Every branch in me that bears not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that bears fruit,
he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
Verse 3: Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
Verse 4: Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the
vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
Verse 5: I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings
forth much fruit: for without me (Jesus) ye can do nothing.
A FAITHFUL CHRISTIAN IS ONE WHO:
1. Studies God’s word-John
2 Tim 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth.
James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
Verse 23: For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his
natural face in a glass:
Verse 24: For he beholds himself, and goes his way, and straightway forgets what manner of
man he was.
Verse 25: But whoso looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he being not a
forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
2. Follows God’s instruction-
Matt 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;
but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven.
3. Worships in spirit and truth-John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true
worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to
worship him.
Verse 24: God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
4. Opposes evil and error-
Heb 5:13 For every one that uses milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have
their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
5. Loves righteousness-Matt 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after
righteousness: for they shall be filled
